Things I look for are; Good times to cbet ~ opponent has high fold to cbet %, the board is ace/king high, not super drawy (monotone, 3 straight etc), not multiway, it's consitent with your overall gameplan (taking into account your table image if you're playing observant players) and if your hand has little chance of winning at showdown. Small consideration to your villians check/raise freq. Bad times to cbet would be the opposite ~ low, co-ordinated flops (578tt etc), villian is a calling station (low fold to cbet%), you have some showdown value (you hold QT on an ATx board etc), flop isn't heads up, flop is likely to hit your opponents range (based on what you have seen from him so far). Bet sizing is highly situational but as a basic guideline I go by my cbets tend to be smaller on dry flops, bigger on a more drawy flop but overall between 60-80% of the pot at a given time. Obviously there is a lot to cover including cbet sizes in 3bet pots etc but I'm sure someone will link some videos to deal with that. But thats just me! |

Great advices. One way to practice your cbet skills for cheap is to turn the sound off and focus only on this aspect in a few videos of your stake. One thing about bet sizing is that I tend to size my bets up when have the goods, I include semi-bluffing hands in the 'goods' to add some confusion. Seems quite straightforward, but they rarely notice at my level.

This is a really good video suggestion I think. At NL50 i find countless players that do crazy moves all the time, IP and OOP with absolute Air. Floating Cbets on multiple streets to make a move as soon as I check is standard and sucks SO bad. I can't see checking 50% of Flops to be the answer to that problem, neither to leave the table if one of that crazy guys is sitting to your left. Play tricky to let the aggroguy hang himself is of course helpfull, but I'd still like to improve in tough situations on particular flops. Like Ak OOP against aggro guy on 823 Rainbow Flop where he moves 100% of the times etc. Unfortunatly, I really got the feeling that the donks on cake are way more on the weak-passive line, than on the weak-aggro. The dynamic of the game is a lot different than on stars imo. Deviants advice sure is helpful, but lacks more in-depth analyzing in special spots. |

I cbet almost all my flops heads up. There's a few pretty good posts on twoplustwo that use the philosophy of looking for reasons NOT to cbet instead of vice versa to really hammer down this point. You can also vary the size of your cbet based on board texture. On a super dry board (rainbow, uncoordinated), you can cbet a lot smaller because there are less hands Villains can have to call you down with. On very drawy boards, you can cbet with bigger bets. |

Yes. One more thing I noticed. On drier boards bet less with air, cause it looks even scarier for your opponents. But always bet big with your made hand, as far as you want to extract max value, unless you know your opponent is aggro monkey or super passive weak player Also another thing to notice: guys who like to float you, do 2nd barrel, 80% they fold, if call or reraise fold. Guys who fold to c/bets more than 80% call - fold Also first time any of your opponents donk bets you, reraise(doesn't matter you have it or not). Just after that you will make note for yourself what his donk bet means, either strong hand or weak. If he calls, and than donk bets on the Turn, reraise again, just to complete your action. |
