Default Party Poker Micro Stakes 10 - 50NL

Would love to see some videos done at party poker personally. I do currently play there, and while yes, the site isn't anything to shake a stick at, it's where I play and am having some trouble cashing in so to speak .. Would love to see how one would play differently from say Full Tilt then at Party Poker given their reputation for soft play.

Do you already beat some stakes, or do you have trouble like, beating 5NL?

Personally I don't think Party is noticeably different from Full Tilt or PokerStars at all. Yesterday I took a shot at 50NL and had to constantly chase fish with a pretty tight net. Where are the super soft games everyone speaks of, I do not know. Probably just folklore, because americans can't play at Party obviously it has to be the best site, so that they have something to blame for being sucky players.

Definately wouldn't say I'm beating any stakes. I don't play 4NL, and just moved myself down to 10NL as 25NL was just too rocky for me. I'd win big or lose hard. Right now I'm breaking even at 10NL, nothing to really be happy about. I think I might be too agressive most times really, not sure though.

If you use a HUD to table select well at 25NL (at this stake it is easy at Party, I usually have 4+ good tables up in 5 mins), you should be able to beat the games slightly with that very simple strategy that PokerTrikz recommends for beginning players. 10NL is slightly different because at Party you only get full ring and it seems to be full of minstack bots, but still I was able to beat it (as well as 5NL) for 12 big blinds per hundred just by being super tight (seriously, 14/11/5) without knowing what the hell I was doing. Bet bet bet fold if they raise, should to date work at any 10NL game.

Basically, Party isn't that much different from other big sites. If someone were to make a vid there, it would be like Full Tilt or Stars.

They are usually referring to Party pre-UIGEA. It was fairly easy for Americans to deposit, and every poker program had that annoying Party Poker commercial running every 5 minutes (or so).

Probably the only real difference you'll notice between different sites is if you're NOT using HUD, you'll probably do a little better on Cake than for example Full Tilt. I really don't know anybody grinding on FTP without using a HUD, on the other hand, on Cake nobody (in theory) uses it.

And the rake is of course different. FTPs rake is killing you if you play smaller than NL25 (double compared to most sites).

Those "Partyfish" and "soft game" legends are from few years back, Moneymaker effect and internet poker just starting to get more attention, most ppl say that the games were very soft back then. One of my friends, playing midstakes nowadays was watching me play micros and said he played a lot worse when he were playing NL100 (that would be a few years back). Don't know how true that statement is, but at least just about everyone agrees that games have gotten a lot tougher in last few years.

Weren't all other sites fishy as well back then though? I know that games used to be *a lot* fishier, but I thought they used to be a lot fishier everywhere, not just Party?

I still hear people go, "lol Party" "I wish I could play on Party" etc. all the time.

Party was "the site" back then, like stars/ft nowadays... and afaik it was HEAVILY advertised during TV poker, so those inspired by Moneymaker naturally went to the site that they had heard of on TV so it might have had a little softer games than some other sites.

This is all just my speculation however, I have never played at party and didn't play back then anyway.
